What a wonderful trip!! We have been home for two days now and it is so hard to explain to our friends what it is like to get out of a 10-seat airplane and be standing on a glacier. (Ruth Glacier)
Or how cold the air is when you reach out of an airboa that you have taken up to yet another glacier (Knik Glacier).
How do you explain to someone how majestic it is to see Mt. McKinley in the bright sun after seeing grizzly bears, eagles, caribou, wolves, and dall sheep, on the trip in to see Mt. McKinley.
This is one time when I really have to say, "You had to be there."

The tours you picked were fantastic, the restaurants you chose were great! I'm working on re-creating some recipes this week.
The lodging was ideal. Your narration was informative and entertaining. And the scenery... well I used 10 rolls of film, and my wife took 280 digital photos.

What a wonderful trip!! This was our first time in Alaska, and the itinerary prepared by Alaska Adventures was certainly a great way to get to know this huge state. And the other couples we met on the tour definitely added to the experience. The wildlife viewing was spectacular and the guide’s ability to spot critters in the distance was great. It was truly amazing to be filling up with gas and having a moose wander by. We were particularly impressed with how you manipulated the weather so we saw Mt. Denali from all angles!!!  First, thank you for everything you did to make our family excursion a once in a lifetime event! From the expected to the unexpected, unfailingly your attitude was "let's get there and just have fun". How do you wake up at 4:00 AM for a dawn hike and realize you're late? How do you describe to someone a sunset at 11:00 PM? What induces humpback whales to circle your boat for three hours? We now all have our various stories and plenty of pictures to share.  John, Margaret & I should like to thank you most sincerely for arranging a very personal and fascinating introductory tour of Alaska. We felt that you had put an enormous amount of time and thought into providing us with the very best experiences we could possibly have imagined. The accommodation in your beautiful chalet was certainly 5-star and could only be eclipsed by our flight seeing excursion. We have the most vivid memories of an autumn landscape colored with yellow, green and crimson, surrounded by dark snow capped mountains with their termination dusting, the shower of driving rain and flying between either end of a double rainbow. How did you manage to organize it?!!!!
We then landed on the glacier, between a crevasse and a deep blue blow hole, to walk unhindered on the surface of a phenomenal ice carpet.
Dare I also mention that we had spotted Dall sheep on the uppermost crag of a windswept mountain on the way?
We loved our excursion to the Knik glacier, spotting the red salmon in their enclosed pools; hearing the icebergs breaking with their thunderous sounds and traveling seemingly 'downhill' in the airboat passed banks of autumn 'snow drift' flowers set against blue skies. Such fun it was too to see giant cabbages in Palmer, pan for gold at Hatcher Pass and to learn so much about the fabulous wildlife that surrounds you, and ending our land journey with rail to Seward, Beluga & hump back whales and the Kenai Fjords. The 'Ryndam' southbound cruise was the icing on the cake - we felt very knowledgeable about glaciers and the wildlife to be found in College fjord and Glacier Bay. We particularly enjoyed the kayaking in Haines, the cycling in Juneau and the 4 x 4 cross country jeep in Ketchikan - I haven't laughed so much for a very long time. We have hours of fabulous photographs.

I heard someone from Talkeetna on the radio here in San Francisco today.  They were reporting that it was -25 degrees, plenty of snow, and they were happy as a clam sitting at The Roadhouse eating ice cream.  Made me nostalgic for my summer tour; I really liked that place, and bet it's even better in the winter.

Our Alaska trip was great, but it would not have been as exciting if we would have taken the land package from the cruise ship.

Alaska Adventure Unlimited was definitely the way to go. Personalized luxury at great land package prices. My good friends have all ready booked their family with Alaska Adventure Unlimited next month. We would consider bringing our children on this land package and then skip the cruise entirely in the future. There is much to do. Corky's breadth of experience in the region outpaces any other travel agents that we had dealt with.
