As your Alaskan tour begins, enjoy the Alaska Native Heritage Center where native games, sports, song & dances are performed. Representatives share their culture and ideas.
Next continue north to the Matanuska Valley, the farming belt of Alaska and visit the native village of Eklutna. Enjoy the Russian Orthodox influenced Chapel and native influenced spirit houses, sharing their cultural traditions. Pass the Palmer Hay Flats and the Knik Arm of the Cook Inlet where this tundra area is home to arctic wildlife and several species of birds. Arriving in Wasilla, enjoy comfortable accommodations adding a remote feel to your Alaskan tour and has all the creature comforts. A dinner stop will be provided at one of Wasilla’s finest restaurants offering exceptional views.

DAY TWO - Knik Glacier, Palmer:
Join the group on one of the most scenic valley drives up the side of Hatcher’s Pass. This area boasts plentiful local wildflowers for the botanist in all of us. The views from the top are stunning. Next, try your hand at gold panning. This is the real thing, in a river stream, not a salted trough! Lunch or an early libation is available at the MotherLode Lodge on this Alaskan tour. This afternoon's adventure will take you aboard an airboat ride to Lake George, the base of Knik Glacier. Lake George, an ice dammed lake was once responsible for floods of cataclysmic proportions. Knik Glacier, 28 miles long, 6 miles wide, and over 1000 feet thick, is one of Alaska's grandest natural attractions. Knik Glacier, born in the Pleistocene Glaciation period (the beginning of the Ice Age) 600,000 years ago, covered the Anchorage bowl and the entire Cook Inlet. Knik Glacier found its way to Hollywood and was featured in such movies as Star Trek V, Running Free, and numerous music videos and commercials. While it remains active, motion imperceptible to the naked eye, this glacier is in a constant state of change. End your day with a dinner stop to relax before your return to your same accommodations.

DAY THREE - Wasilla & Talkeetna:
Today will present one of many highlights on your land only Alaskan tour. You will be off to visit the Iditarod Race Headquarters for interactive moments with a dog sled team and puppies! Learn about the trail and race conditions these athletes endure. Enjoy a dog sled tour on a quarter acre track. Feel the thrill of the moment the dogs take off, and realize their excitement. Then, Talkeetna is a local town sporting the most photographed scenes in our state, the towering peaks of Mt. McKinley and the Alaska mountain range. Only 1 ½ hours north, this town is a hub of international mountain climbers. You may choose one of the following adventures to enjoy in Talkeetna: (B)

Denali Flightseeing & Glacier Landing: This magnificent flight takes you within six miles of Mt. McKinley's summit. As your flight departs Talkeetna, you begin to see how the last ice age has shaped the land. Moments later you enter a world of rugged high mountain peaks and wide glacier filled valleys. Listen as your pilot describes the natural wonders of Denali National Park. See the Sheldon Amphitheater, beautiful Ruth Glacier, and the Great Gorge (the world's deepest - almost 2 miles from top to bottom). "No visit is complete without this experience!" Land on the Sheldon Amphitheater glacier beneath Mt. McKinley. The aircraft are equipped with skis, floats, and voice activated headphones. Passengers, each with comfortable window seats, enjoy narration by an experienced pilot-guide highlighting points of interest including geology, wildlife, and history. Flight time is 1.5 hrs and includes a glacier landing. Upgrades for longer flights can be purchased.

2-Hour Riverboat Adventure: Your exciting trip will begin aboard the fifty-one passenger "Talkeetna Queen" as it whisks you into the heart of the wilderness in comfort. This is the most technologically advanced river jet boat in Alaska designed to safely navigate rivers that were previously inaccessible. It is glass-domed, environmentally controlled, and has an onboard restroom for your comfort. Upon arriving at our Safari sight you will take a 1/4 mile leisurely nature walk. You will visit an authentic trapper’s cabin and view how trappers lived in "Bush" Alaska at the turn of the century. Your experienced guide will display raw furs from the local area and demonstrate trapping methods. Naturalists will acquaint you with the wildflowers and plants that grow in abundance along the river system and you will learn about the edible plants that were used by the Native Indians for cooking and medicines. As you travel ten miles of river you will have opportunities to view nesting bald eagles, beaver activity, and moose and you just might see black bear and grizzly bear roaming the shore. Wildlife, folklore, artifacts and a panoramic view of Denali in the Alaska Range combine to make this an unforgettable Alaskan river adventure.

- This evening, enjoy much deserved relaxation in your Talkeetna accommodations.

DAY FOUR - Talkeetna & Denali National Park:
Rise refreshed and ready to find more treasures in the Talkeetna wilderness on your Alaskan tour. Today a half-day fishing excursion is scheduled for you to wet a line. Home to many species of fish, you can choose from lake fishing for trout, grayling or land-locked salmon, or choose river fishing, for early runs of salmon. You can choose to fish or if you are not a fisher person, you can choose to horseback ride, take a river adventure or shop in the local area. Late this afternoon, continuing our adventure to Denali National Park, we will cross over Hurricane Gulch, so have your cameras ready. The vistas are breathtaking. Upon arrival in Denali National Park, this evening is at your leisure for shopping, dining or sightseeing. Overnight in Denali National Park. (B)

DAY FIVE - Denali National Park:
Everything about Denali National Park is big: the scenery, the mountains, the incredible beauty, and the animals. Early this morning, you will embark on the Denali Park Wildlife Alaskan Tour, an excellent way to spot the wildlife for which Alaska is so famous: moose, bear, wolves, caribou, dall sheep. It is a fascinating 6 to 8 hour motorcoach tour into the park. A snack and beverage are included. It is the only way to enter the park, as it is a preserve. So bring your camera and binoculars. Late this afternoon, relax and enjoy the park as you see fit. Evening rafting or shopping is optional. Overnight in Denali. (B, L)

DAY SIX - Denali National Park & Wasilla:
Part of a vacation is actually getting to relax. Today, the group will be able to sleep in before beginning the day's activities. After a continental breakfast, enjoy a morning of leisure to visit the National Park headquarters. Films of the Denali region, the wildlife and birds are shown daily. Hiking trails from easy to steep, offer all guests the opportunity to enjoy the park in their timing. Finally the new science center peaks the biologist in all of us, to read, learn and discover facts and fiction of this boreal forest. Ranger talks are also available and will offer something for everyone.
- Late this afternoon, return to Wasilla for an evening dinner stop and an overnight at your chalet.
(B)

DAY SEVEN - Chickaloon & Copper Center:

This morning brings one of the most dramatic drives in the state. As your Alaskan tour heads north to Chickaloon, the Knik Glacier reveals its full glory. The Matanuska River winds its way north beside us, cutting a cavern of beauty through the Matanuska Valley. As we arrive in Chickaloon, you will enjoy either a whitewater raft adventure or a slow float raft trip. The Glacier Run slow float raft trip is great for relaxed sightseeing and photo opportunities. This easily negotiable class II water makes it a great way to experience rafting and the great outdoors. Or choose to ride the rapids with a fun, exhilarating whitewater raft trip. After the raft trip, appetites should be huge, so off to the Long Rifle Lodge, where views of the Matanuska Glacier are unrivaled. After an hour for lunch, continue sightseeing through the Eureka Summit area. Keep your binoculars handy for wildlife viewing. Continuing on, this evening brings the beautiful Copper Center Lodge & home of the infamous Copper River Red Salmon.
(B)

DAY EIGHT - McCarthy, Wrangell St. Elias & Kennicott:
Awake in the heart of Wrangell St. Elias National Park. Six times the size of Yellowstone, Wrangell St. Elias National Park encompasses 20,000 square miles of mountain wilderness. It includes nine of the sixteen highest peaks in the US, the largest concentration of mountains over 14,000 feet in North America. The views of this region are worth a thousand photos, so make sure you have film! Enjoy your scenic drive on this Alaska tour to the native village of Chitina. This area is very remote and few visitors ever experience the thrill of this national park. Here you will participate in a flightseeing adventure tour over the Wrangell St. Elias National Park. The vistas are incredible. Arriving in McCarthy, sightseeing is at your leisure. Tour the Kennicott Mine or hike the back trails of the remote area. Overnite at the Kennicott Lodge and escape into Alaska’s past.

DAY NINE - Keystone Canyon & Valdez:
Morning brings a famous breakfast at the Kennicott Lodge featuring gourmet cuisine in the outback. Then the remaining morning is at leisure to experience more of McCarthy. The lore of this area is preserved featuring early turn of the century living. This afternoon you again have the opportunity to view wildlife and glaciers on your Alaskan flightseeing tour back to Chitina. Travel to Valdez through scenic Copper Basin & Thompson Pass. Make sure to have film on this day. Thompson features peak mountains, glaciers, panoramic viewing at it's best. Keystone Canyon next offers a great photo safari featuring Alaska's most beautiful waterfalls. Arriving in Valdez, relax at journey’s end. Overnite in local accommodations.

DAY TEN - Prince William Sound Cruise & Whittier:
This morning you will begin the beautiful Passage of the Prince William Sound by ferry. Pass Columbia Glacier and the waterfalls that the sound is famous for. You will be able to whale watch, as well as take in the pristine wilderness of this vast ocean inlet. With glaciers names after the famous Ivy League East Coast Colleges, you will see why this is so aptly named College Fjord. As you arrive in Whittier, you have the afternoon for sightseeing on your own. This small fishing town is Alaska’s newest port. Choose to have some infamous pie, or take in the grandeur of the mountains of this sleepy town. Your Alaskan tour ends here.

For guests taking a southbound cruise, here you will board your ship. For guests flying out of Anchorage, you can choose to board the Alaska railroad at 6 PM for your return to Anchorage. Portage Glacier and salmon spawning grounds will be in full view. As you head north on the final leg of your Alaskan tour, watch for dall sheep on the cliffs winding their way along the Turnagain Arm of the Cook Inlet. Arrive at the train station at 9:15 PM.
